Celebrating 10 Years : A Look Back

This month marks our 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! Below we compiled some of our most memorable moments over the 10 years. As we look back, we want to thank our customers, supporters, and those who believe in what we are working so hard to accomplish. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to an exciting future with you!

On April 8th, 2011 we opened our doors to the public. We were a tiny little nook that shared a space with furniture consignment store, Divine Consign. Pictured below is current owner Amanda with previous employee Maureen, showing off our very first business cards).

6 months later, we realized that you loved what we created and needed to expand. Knocked down a wall, made room for shoes, and designated a space for jewelry. Who remembers our teeny tiny dressing rooms behind the love wall?

Just one year after opening, we did a major store takeover for our 2nd Grand Opening, where we tripled in size (3,500 sq ft) and had a short run with a mens department. (Pictured below: Revealing the expansion and a look inside on the day of our G.O.)
Our handbag wall was the talk of the town. Floor to ceiling handbags from your favorite brands was a fashionista's dream. What do you think, should we bring the handbag wall back?

Our third grand opening in 2017, for transfer of ownership to Amanda, was our biggest celebration! We had a line wrapped around the block that we still get goosebumps over. The Trends squad showed up and has continued to show their support every day. (Second photo is the line wrapped around the block and our official ribbon cutting).

We went through a total re-brand to become the Trends you know and love today! Florals, friendly faces, and whole lot more of your designer favorites.  We started to offer private shopping parties, styling services, and a Trendy experience unlike any other. (Pictured below: Trendy shopper Jamie and friends, celebrating her birthday with us and a sample of the designer collection we currently have in store).
One of the things I am most proud of is our charitable donations. To date we have given over $100,000 of merchandise & monetary donations to local charities. Ms. Sheryl Abel, founder of Hope Inc based in Maywood, picks up donations weekly. Because of our fabulous consignors and customers, we were able to donate a TRUCK full of gently used pieces to women in need (pictured below).

The 2020 pandemic was our biggest challenge. We switched gears and started to really focus online with Facebook Live shopping parties and adding new arrivals to our website. We are now able to offer trendy finds to people all over the US and beyond. (Pictured below: Hosting our 12 hour Facebook Live Marathon) You can join our Shopping Parties every Tuesday & Thursday at 8pm.

Today, Trends is more than a consignment boutique. We are a space where women can feel empowered and supported. We are an inclusive space that welcomes all and celebrates the little moments along side you. Hosting parties and collaborating with local businesses is our favorite! We look forward to the day where we can all safely come together again. (Pictured below taken 2019 during our Yoga event hosted by Marissa Jayne, of And Then There Was Well in Oak Park).

This transformation clearly did not happen over night. If you've been with us since day one, thank you for being by our side through it all. If you've recently become a Trendie, thank you for taking the time to stop in our store or visit our website. No matter where you've come from, please know that every minute of every day is spent being grateful for your support and love. We would be honored if you joined us in store on Saturday, April 24th from 11-6pm to celebrate our 10 year achievement (masks required and all safety measures will be taken).
